Reaching Where Support Was Needed

Kalpaka

In many villages, access to menstrual hygiene support is still limited. What should be simple to manage often becomes difficult for women and young girls, especially when access to the right products and information is not consistent.

In Manchegowda Hadi, this was part of everyday life.

Menstrual health was not always easy to manage, and conversations around it did not happen often. It remained something handled quietly, with very little guidance or support.

Kalpaka Foundation stepped in when a message from the community brought this need into focus.

A Letter That Brought Attention to a Real Need

Kalpaka

On December 24, 2025, Kalpaka Foundation received a letter from the community of Manchegowda Hadi. It spoke about the challenges women and young girls were facing in managing their menstrual health.

Access to sanitary products was limited, and for many families, regular purchase was not financially possible. Women relied on whatever was available, even when it was not safe or comfortable. Young girls were learning to manage these changes with very little guidance.

The request was clear.
Support was needed to make menstrual hygiene safer and more manageable within the community.

Looking Closer at the Situation

Kalpaka

In Manchegowda Hadi, everyday life already comes with its own challenges. Reaching basic health and hygiene products is not always easy, and this becomes more difficult when it comes to menstrual care.

Adolescent girls often do not have access to proper information. Conversations around menstrual health happen rarely, and hesitation makes it harder to ask questions or seek help.

Over time, this affects not just health, but also confidence and comfort in daily life.

Addressing this need meant focusing on both access and awareness.

With a clearer understanding of the need, the team at Kalpaka Foundation began preparing to respond. The focus was on reaching the community with the right support, delivered with care and sensitivity.

A Day in Manchegowda Hadi

On March 2, 2026, the team reached the settlement to carry out the initiative.

The surroundings were calm, with homes closely placed and people gradually gathering as the team arrived. There was curiosity at first, followed by a growing sense of comfort.

Women came forward in small groups. Some listened quietly, while others asked questions. Conversations developed naturally as the team explained the importance of menstrual hygiene and safe practices.

Sanitary napkins were distributed to 100 families, reaching women and adolescent girls across the community.

This effort combined both access and awareness, making the initiative more meaningful for those involved.

Moments That Stay With You

Kalpaka

A young girl stood holding her packet, taking a moment before walking away.

A mother spoke to a volunteer, asking how she could guide her daughter better.

A few women stayed back, continuing their conversation after the distribution.

These moments reflected a gradual shift.

There was more openness, more willingness to engage, and a sense of ease that grew through the day.

A Note From Kalpaka Foundation

Kalpaka

We are grateful to the community of Manchegowda Hadi for placing their trust in us and welcoming us into their space.

Supporting menstrual health goes beyond providing products. It involves awareness, access, and creating an environment where women and girls feel supported and informed.

This initiative is a step in that direction, and we will continue working with the same focus and responsibility.
